Do Alpaca Farmers Make Good Congresswomen?

Cuba resident Janice Volk has thrown her furry, woolen hat into the ring. She'll be vying for the Republican nomination in the 29th District Congressional seat race. The grandmother of four will face off against a more established, more qualified, and better funded Tom Reed of Corning. What has she done that Reed hasn't? She's raised alpacas, which begs the question: can the lessons learned in alpaca farming be translated into good governing? The answer is a definitive "maybe."

  1. I believe that Ms. Volk would be a very good candidate. When really looking in to Mr. Reed, his experience is very limited. One example, while he does have experience as an attorney, he is a COLLECTIONS ATTORNEY, with most of clients being patients at Corning Hospital. Another example is that while he was mayor of Corning, he was only mayor for one term (he made the choice to quit) and now if you read the Corning media, he is not seen in a favorable light. I just think Ms. Volk will actually speak for the people's interests and make up for the lack of representation for the 29th Congressional district.

  2. Mr. Reed's experience in buying the Masonic temple in Bath for $28 K and then pocketing $ 1.1 M in stimulus funds would be really helpful for him if he got ahold of a Real budget. Yeah, give me the Dr.'s office manager any day... Alpacas and all. Besides, they make nice socks.

  4. She has managed Doctor's offices, that makes her well known to thousands of people in the area. Reed has managed to sue thousands of people in the area for not being able to afford their doctor. More qualified? Well, he already has experience raising taxes... Come November being an established politician won't mean more qualified anymore, it will mean unemployed like they made so many of us.
